Touring Autumn 2024
Three spine-chilling tales of terror in one night of nightmarish horror and insanity. These classic examples of Gothic Horror will have you sleeping with the lights on for a while. This is a style of storytelling which often uses the things you don't see to really mess with your head, but as bad as the unseen horrors may be, sometimes you'll wish they had remained hidden.
In The Raven, one of Edgar Allen Poe's most famous works, a man mourns the loss of his love, slipping into grief and madness when he is visited by an ominous and mysterious raven. The man finds some comfort in his unexpected guest, and begins to converse with it. Will the bird help him to find solace? Will talking to the raven about his lost love bring some peace? Will he hold her again in heaven?
Nevermore.
The Monkey's Paw by W W Jacobs is a truly terrifying tale about a family who are granted three wishes, but with the warning that each wish will come at a heavy price. Despite not being in need, the family are overtaken by curiosity and greed and make their first request, with no idea what horrors they are about to unleash. This is a story which is highly likely to keep you awake at night, and never has a knock on the door been so nightmarish.
Be careful what you wish for.
The Black Cat begins with a warning that the storyteller is perfectly sane, even though you will not be able to believe the tale which is about to unfold. A devoted family man and animal lover comes undone, unable to feel remorse or empathy, until a series of unspeakable acts are brought into the light by a supernatural black cat.
This is one of Edgar Allen Poe's most stomach-churning and visceral stories, guaranteed to remain in your mind for a long time after it reaches it's shocking conclusion.
